What is the name of wired computer networking standards designed for local area, access, metropolitan area networks and many more? It was invented in 1973, commercially introduced in 1980 and has been upgraded since to support higher bit rates, more nodes, longer distances etc. The original commercial implementation was "10Base5", using a coaxial cable to allow for 10 Mbit/s bandwidth over a maximum segment length of 500 meters.

Answer to yesterday's question: "Turing Award". Named rather obviously after Alan Turing, "Father of Computer Science", widely credited as a founder of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence, and as a key contributor to the cryptanalysis of Enigma.
